Gilbert Lentol
November 30, 2021
Share your Memorial with Family & Friends
Gilbert Lentol peacefully left this earth for his heavenly father after a long illness on November 30, 2021.
Gil is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 50+ years, his children: Donna Lentol, Lola (Clive) Williams and Gilbert Jr. (Cynthia) Lentol, and his four grandchildren Kyle, Brandon, Allison, Ryan, as well as his two brothers, Edward Lentol, and Joseph Lentol.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to a State Supreme Court Justice, Edward Lentol and Mathilda (Postis) Lentol, he came into this world with an instant friend, his twin, Joseph. Along with his older brother, Edward, they shared ideas, dreams, experiences, and friends every day like brothers do. They stayed close over the years.
Gil spent his adult years in Ohio with his wife, Pat, raising three beautiful children and running a well-respected accounting firm, Lentol, Violet, Kienitz & Co.
He was a member of the Italian club CIAO and the Optimist Club. In 1972, Gil and a friend from Westinghouse formed the Professional Investors Club of Lima. The club continues today, engaging Gil’s legacy of conservative, accurate stock selection.
Gilbert will be remembered for his love of his family, and fondness of all things mathematical. He would probably be best remembered as “one who counts everything” including blessings. Gil was smart and opinionated, and passionate about life and music. He was an avid coin collector, card counter (so he thought), investment strategist, and an excellent pool player.
But mostly, highest amongst his counted blessings were his family and his little therapy dog, Sophie.
