Geneve “Genny” Rae Burden, 70 of Lima, passed away February 12, 2022, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Genny was born May 29, 1951 in Lima to Harold and Geneve (Hester) Bowers, who preceded her in death. On August 10, 1974, she married Ricky D. Burden, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2001.

Genny was a 1969 graduate of Lima Senior High School and went on to further her education at The Ohio State Beauty Academy. She worked as a beautician at Kris-Mar Beauty Shop and retired from Lowes Home Improvement after 19 years. Genny attended Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church and she was a member of the Hardtimes Buggy Club. She loved spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildrens’ events. Genny enjoyed trying her luck at the casino, shopping, making home-made crafts and her collection of decorative snowmen.

Genny is survived by her daughters, Aimee (Jason) Horstman of Lima and Amanda (Sam Brock) Burden of Fostoria; grandchildren, Jacob (Shannon) Horstman of Clarksville, TN and Rhiannon Horstman of Lima; sister, Judy Kill; brother, Kirk “Doug” Bowers; brother-in-law, Gregory (Sharon) Burden; sister-in-law, Cindy (Ron) Pyles and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Joe Bowers; sister, Betty Craig; brother, Harold “Buff” Bowers; brother-in-law, Lewis Burden, Jr. and in-laws, Lewis & Dorothy (Riggle) Burden.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nurse Emily at St. Rita’s Medical Center for her loving, compassionate care.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev. John Maynard to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, February 18, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bath Music Association.
