Gary Allen Bratz, age 73, was called into the presence of the Lord at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the McCleod Medical Center in Dillon, SC with his wife by his side.
Gary was born August 27, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Norman R. and Rozella (Johnson) Bratz. On February 25, 1967 he married Lois (Paugh) Bratz.
Gary was a 1966 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He retired from the Dana Corporation in June of 2005 after 31 years of service. Gary was an avid car enthusiast and had previously belonged to the Glass Society Corvette Club. He was a member of the Dana Retirees #1765, was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Orioles, Lima Nest #173 and a member of the Eagles Aeries #2772, Columbus Grove. Gary loved spending time with his family and traveling with his wife, Lois. He had traveled to every state with the exception of Hawaii. He enjoyed tinkering with his tractors and especially loved ice cream and his pets.
He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Lois Elaine (Paugh) Bratz of Columbus Grove; two daughters, Elaine (Bryan) Montgomery and Leca Bratz both of Lima; two grandchildren, Gavin and Keaton Montgomery of Lima; sister, CeCelia Reese of Lima; father-in-law, Donald G. (Norma) Paugh of Apollo Beach, FL; mother-in-law, M. Jeanne Sutton of Lima; three sisters-in-law, DJ Patterson of TX, Sandra (Lee) Rigby of FL and Sue Landers of TX; five brothers-in-law, Richard (Cindy) Sutton of Lima, Rev. David Sutton of AK, Tom Reese of Waynesfield, Gary (Estella) Paugh of IN; Brian (Cindy) Paugh of IN and many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by, father-in-law, Glen Sutton; sister-in-law, Millie Sutton and brother-in-law, Robert Patterson.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Salem Mennonite Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Saturday, February 5, at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
