Gail C. Samons, 88, passed away on May 3, 2022, at 9:10 am, at the Springs of Lima, surrounded by her loving family.
Gail was born January 21, 1934 in Banner, KY, to Earcel Compton and Oriole (Rice) Compton who both preceded her in death. On March 7, 1952 she married Ward Samons who preceded her in death on December 11, 2015.
Gail graduated from Martin High School in Martin, KY in 1952. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She volunteered at the front desk at Lima Memorial Health Systems for over twenty years. Gail was a member at Lima First Church of the Nazarene where she was very active in various departments. She had a green thumb and loved many variations of flowers. Gail was an exceptional cook and loved cooking for her family. She cherished her husband and loved her children and great-grandchildren dearly. A little known fact about Gail is she had quite the collection of frogs.
Gail is survived by her children, V. Kathleen “Kathy” (Rex) Herfurth of Alger, OH, L. David “Dave” (Phyllis) Samons of Lima, OH, Mike (Tammy) Samons of Marysville, OH, grandchildren, Ryan (Arynn Martin) Herfurth, Amber (Brandon) Scott, Robin (Alan) Buffenbarger, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Chris (Lewis) Carr.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Ted Compton, Patty Compton, Don Compton, Randell Compton.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11:00am at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Rev. Jon Spyker to officiate the service. Burial will be in Bluelick Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
