Evelyn C. Monfort, age 84, passed away on February 14, 2022, at 7:27 am, at The Greens at Lima Convalescent Home. Evelyn was born July 20, 1937, in Lima, OH, to Gerald and Leila (Shutt) Shulaw who preceded her in death. On November 23, 1956, she married Floyd S. Monfort who preceded her in death on February 19, 2015.
Evelyn was a graduate of Lafayette Jackson High School. She had worked as a cosmetologist having her own salon as well as working at Westgate House of Styles. She previously worked at Gordon’s on Wayne Street. She had also owned F&E Crafts. Evelyn was a member of LaRue Chapon’ Red Hats, Sigma Beta Sorority, Potpourri of Painters and a charter member of the Northwest Garden Pond Society. She was an artist, and enjoyed using acrylics, oils and water colors. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and was an avid animal lover.
Evelyn is survived by her brother in-law, Norman L. Monfort of Lima, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by 2 brothers: James Shulaw and Ira D. Shulaw, a sister, Helen (Taz) Stringfield, and a sister in-law, Ruth Ann Monfort.
There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev. Lori Wright. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery following the service.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to Deb’s Dogs or the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
