Ethel Argyle Mary (Jackson) Gross, 97, of Lima, went to be with the Lord at 8:51 AM on June 7, 2018 at Lima Memorial Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit.

She was born on October 23, 1920 in Lima to John L. and Minnie (Wilson) Jackson, who both preceded her in death. On May 29, 1943, she married John A. Gross, who preceded her in death on December 15, 2000.

She graduated from South High School. Many years ago she had a beauty shop with her sister. She had also worked at Devita’s Produce for a short time.

Argyle was a member of First Assembly of God. She enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible, crocheting and crafts when her eyes were good. She also enjoyed watching football, especially the Buckeyes. Her family was her life.

Surviving are her sons Rev. William L. (Sandy) Gross of Alliance, OH and (James) Mike (Martha) Gross of Lima; her five grandchildren William A. (Kristi) Gross of Alliance, Chris (Amanda) Gross of Columbus,OH, Kim (Gross) Brady of Alliance, OH, Melissa (Gross) (Marty) Gantz of New Carlisle, OH and Kenny (Samantha) Gross of Lima; her fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son John H. Gross; her daughter Cheryl Cline; her grandson David Michael Gross.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 8, 2018 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL, with Pastor Keith Wilson, officiating. Other participants in the service will be Rev. Jerry Hall and Rev. Dan Holbrook and Pastor Janet Hoffman.

Interment will immediately follow the services in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
