Esther I. McKinney, age 96, of Elida, passed away at 12:15 A.M. Thursday, November 24, 2022, at The Springs of Lima.

Esther was born August 30, 1926, in Lima, OH, to David and Siloma (Zurcher) Augsburger, who both preceded her in death. On June 5, 1965, she married William D. “Bill” McKinney who preceded her in death on March 8, 2019.

Esther was a graduate of Elida High School and worked many years as a clerk for Dr. Epstein. Esther was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Donna Jean Jones of Van Wert and Diana J. Miller of Cridersville; brother-in-law, Rodney D. (Marilyn) McKinney of Lima and close friend and neighbor, Ron (Mary) Steiner of Elida.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Christopher Augsburger, Fred Augsburger and Homer Augsburger; two sisters, Elizabeth King and Halda; six brothers-in-law, John “Jack” McKinney, Timothy McKinney, Robert McKinney, Thomas McKinney, Philip Jones and Bruce Miller and two sisters-in-law, Janet Hesseling and Jane Parrish.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Paul Scannell will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Salem Mennonite Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, prior to the service at the funeral home.
