Elizabeth Ann Wren, known fondly as “Betty”, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on the evening of Tuesday, November 9th, at the age of 85.
Betty was born to Forrest and Louise (Buscher) Dillon of Delphos, on February 6, 1936. She graduated from Delphos St. Johns High School.
After being widowed in 1971, she was a hard-working, single mother of her three sons; who were her world.
Betty enjoyed traveling, cooking, watching soap operas, playing cards, and being on Facebook to keep up with her family and friends. She found joy in her family and was proud of who they had grown up to be.
For over a decade Betty was close with Bill Miller of Michigan. He was a cherished friend who brightened her days and stood by her at the worst of times.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Mark A. Hornic of Wapakoneta, Robert J. (Mary) Hornic of Lima, and Michael E. Hornic of Celina; grandchildren, James Hornic, Nicole (Lucas) Tuggle, Rebecca Hornic, and Chelsea (Nathan Conaway) Hornic; and great-granddaughter, Annabelle Komminsk.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her firsts husband, James Joseph Hornic; second husband , Merl Schmidt; and her third husband, Gary Wren.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Father, Thomas Varghese will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
