Elizabeth A. “Libby” Wood, 98, of Sunbury, Ohio and formerly of Lima, passed away at 5:18 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at The Inn at Walnut Trail in Sunbury, Ohio.
She was born on July 20, 1924 in Indianapolis, IN to Clyde O. Baker, Sr. and Florence Basore, who both preceded her in death. On August 7, 1949, she married Walter D. “Woody” Wood, who preceded her in death on May 2, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her special companion Floyd “Red” Echeman.
Libby was a devoted wife and mother. She had a special gift for fashion. She loved dancing. She was an avid reader of health books as well as The Lima News. She enjoyed her “perfect” cup of coffee. Each day she looked forward to watching the bird feeder, especially the cardinals.
Surviving are her sons Dennis (Catherine) Wood of Sunbury, OH and Terry (Darleen) Wood of Sterling Heights, MI; her six grandchildren Ryan (Angie) Wood, Michael (Chelsey) Wood, Brandon (Krista) Wood, Justin (Danielle) Wood, Kevin (Graciela) Wood and Christena (Douglas) Elliott; her thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde O. Baker, Sr. and Florence (Robert) Bowers; her brother Clyde O. Baker and her sister Nina Ewing.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3000 Harding Highway, Lima, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
Rev. Joseph Stoll will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road SE, Newark, OH 43055.
