Edward D. “Ed” Mault, 44, of Elida, passed away at 9:00 PM on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

He was born on April 10, 1977 in Lima to Denny and Connie (Kepfer) Mault, who survive in Elida. On August 20, 2012, he married Carla Phalen, who survives in Elida.

Ed proudly served his country as a member of the US Army having served in South Korea and Afghanistan. He formerly worked at Stanley Electric in London, but more recently was a stay at home daddy.

Ed was a fun loving guy who enjoyed sitting in his chair playing games like Destiny 2 and Final Fantasy 14. He loved math problems and often tutored others. He was always working on a Rubik’s Cube. He loved his cats Darwin and Gomez. But most of all he loved spending time teaching things to his daughter Izzy.

Surviving in addition to his wife Carla (Phalen) Mault are his daughter Isabel Kathleen Mault; his parents Denny (Connie) Mault of Elida; his sister Tracy Smith of Lima and her son Adam Smith of Spencerville; his in-laws Michael (Brenda) Phalen of Lima; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Joseph “Jack” and Marguerite “Marge” Kepfer and his paternal grandparents Virginia (Charlie) Mault.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, December 20, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, with Pastor Dalton Mault, officiating.

For those unable to attend the funeral service in person, it may be viewed on the Chiles-Laman Funeral Home Facebook page.

Interment in Allentown Cemetery will immediately follow the services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a fund that is being established for his daughter Izzy’s education.
