Edna A. Davis, 99, passed peacefully from her earthly life on November 11, 2021 at 9:15 pm at Wyngate Senior Community in Lima.

She was born on September 3, 1922, in rural Logan County to Tiry and Nina (Moore) Taylor, and they preceded her in death. After her mother was buried on her first birthday, Edna was loved and nurtured by her Grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Moore. She married the love of her life, Neal K. Davis on June 10, 1943, and together they made their life-long home in Lima. She worked at Westinghouse for a number of years prior to the birth of their only daughter, Trudi (Jerry) Snyder who survives in Lima. Edna was a stay-at-home mother for many years before returning to work at Bearings Inc. and later McAdams Co. as a secretary/bookkeeper.

She was blessed with three grandchildren, James (Liz) Snyder of Lima, Laura Snyder of Cincinnati, and Ashley (Eric) Joyce of Beavercreek, Ohio. Seven great-grandchildren filled her life with joy and countless loving moments – Thomas and Daniel Snyder of Lima, Cosette, Samara, Lena, and Caleb Snyder of Cincinnati, and Madeline Joyce of Fairborn. Treasured niece, Arta (Larry) Conley of Carlisle, PA, and nephew Merrill (Sherrill) Castle of Tennessee also are left to mourn her. She was preceded in death by her husband Neal, sister, Annabel Castle, brother, Gerald Taylor, special nephew, Kay Castle.

Edna was a faithful basketball fan of the Lima Senior High School Spartans for over 50 years, giving up her tickets only when it was too difficult to get to the games. She played bunco with the Happy Harmony Club, and loved word puzzles, (always completing the Sunday crosswords in ink), and reading mysteries. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church for nearly 60 years, where she was active in United Methodist Women and the kitchen crew, making hundreds of pounds of candy and noodles. Some of her most enjoyable times came during the two years she attended the Allen County Council on Aging Elderly Day Care Center. Our sincere thanks to the loving employees of the Elderly Day Care Center, Wyngate Senior Community, and St. Rita’s Hospice who filled her days with fun and tender care.

Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday and from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am Thursday at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev. Kerry Snyder officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or Allen County Council on Aging Elderly Day Care Center.

Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
