Edith Marie Creps, age 99, passed peacefully at Lima Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving children. Born July 22, 1922, in Lima, Ohio, to parents Ray H. Staver and Pearl Z. (Driver), who both preceded her in death. Edith was the oldest of six siblings: Robert L. Staver (deceased), Donald H. Staver (deceased), James A. Staver (deceased), Vivian C. (Staver) Reeder (deceased), Ronald G. Staver (Lima, OH). She spent her childhood growing up on the family farm; where she developed her love of cooking, gardening, sewing, and reading.
On November 21, 1940, Edith married Paul E. Creps; they celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to Paul’s passing in 1996. She was a skilled homemaker and cherished the time she spent raising her two sons, Barry and Steve. Edith was well-known for keeping things neat and orderly and for hosting large family gatherings. She loved being an actively involved grandmother and rarely missed a sporting or musical event for the grandkids. One of her favorite past-times was watching/listening to Cincinnati Reds games. Edith was a life-long fan and has a brick in her honor at the Great American Ball Park.
Edith was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, receiving her 75-year pin last year, and dedicated her life to making a positive difference in the world with charitable works, lasting friendships, and loving kindness. She and Paul were also members of the United Church of Christ in Westminster, OH.
Left to cherish her memory are Barry L. Creps (Linda), Stephen R. Creps, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and her many friends at Primrose Retirement Community.
