Edith I. Hartman, 84, of Piqua and formerly of Lima, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 5:40 AM on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her daughter’s residence.
She was born on January 25, 1935 in Lafayette, OH to Wavel and Martha (Kidd) Ransbottom, who both preceded her in death. On August 14, 1960, she married John C. Hartman, who preceded her in death on February 5, 2015.
Edith was a licensed practical nurse who had worked at Bluffton Hospital, Richland Manor and retired from the Allen County Home. She was a member of Liberty Chapel Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her two daughters Nancy (Byron Brown) Coon and Linda (Marvin Thomas) Shreves both of Piqua, OH; her grandchildren Gregory (Chastity) Titus, Joshua (Heather Telez) Titus, Anthony (Angie Basil) Titus, Cory Wireman, Amber (Bill) Poling, Bernard Ernest “Ernie” Hartman; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sisters Waneta (George) Manos and Doris Rhodes, both of Englewood, OH; her sister-in-law Dorothy Hartman of Bluffton, OH; her brother-in-law Donald Hartman of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her son Bernard W. Hartman; her granddaughter Crystal Bryan; her great-granddaughter Madison Marie Wireman; her brother-in-law Donald Rhodes; her sister Marcene (Raymond) Spangler.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL with funeral services immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM.
Pastor Neal Whitney will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Chiles-Laman to help defray the funeral costs.
