Dr. Thomas P. Faulkner, 80, passed away peacefully the morning of January 10, 2022, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Thomas (Tom) was born March 22, 1941, in Port Huron, MI, to the late Thomas and Celeste (Fischbach) Faulkner. He grew up in Sidney, Ohio, and graduated from Holy Angels High School in 1959. Tom then entered Purdue University and graduated in 1963 with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. While there, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and active in tournament and intercollegiate bridge.

After graduation, Tom worked as a pharmacist at the Union Health Center in Springfield, OH. In 1966 he returned to Purdue for graduate studies in Pharmacology. During that time he served in the Air Force National Guard in Wilmington, OH. It was in Springfield that he met and married Susan Brisach from Hempstead, NY. They married on August 24, 1968, and she preceded him in death on July 9, 2004.

Tom received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology in 1971. He then took a faculty position in the College of Pharmacy at Texas Southern University in Houston, TX, where he conducted research in drug abuse clinics and emergency room procedures.

In Houston, Tom and Susan had two daughters, Karen in 1972 and Tracy in 1976. The Faulkners moved to Ada, OH, in 1978, where Tom took a faculty position in the College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. He was active in several areas of toxicology research and computer technology in education, publishing numerous research articles. He served as Chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Biomedical Sciences from 1992-2001, and retired in 2006.

Tom stayed busy traveling and playing tennis many times a week. He continued playing duplicate bridge, achieving the rank of Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. He welcomed his first grandchild, Thomas, in early March of 2009 and his second, Cecelia, in July of 2013. In 2012, Tom and Pat (Mann) Skalski rekindled a high school romance. They spent his last years together traveling extensively, enjoying time with friends and family, and most importantly spending time with each other.

Tom is survived by Patricia “Pat” Skalski of Lima, OH, children Karen (Eric) Rumley of Ravenna, OH, Tracy (Douglas Hagman) Faulkner of Palos Park, IL, and grandchildren Thomas and Cecelia Hagman.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
