Dr. Carmencita C. “Doc” Mola, age 77, was called into the presence of the Lord at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Lima Manor Nursing Home
Doc was born February 16, 1941 in Bayombong Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines to Gregorio and Concepcion (Camonayan) Mola who both preceded her in death.
Doc was a 1956 graduate of Abellana High School, Cebu City, Philippines and she graduated from San Carlos University, Cebu City, Philippines in 1958. She graduated medical school in 1963 from the Cebu Institute of Medicine, Cebu City, Philippines. Doc completed her internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia and her residency in Pathology from Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and also completed her residency in Psychiatry from Spring Grove State Hospital, Cantonsville, Maryland. Doc loved to learn; she enjoyed reading Sci Fi books and was passionate about helping others, having practiced in the Toledo Mental Health Center, The Oakwood Correctional Facility and The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Doc dedicated her entire life to education, medicine and family, never finding time or the desire to marry.
She is survived by her best friend who she referred to as her little sister, Karen and her husband, Dirk Esmonde of Lima, their son, Dylan Esmonde and her friends from Lima Manor who lovingly referred to her as “Chita”.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Gregorio “Sonny” Mola Jr.
Funeral services will begin 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018. at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Charles Dupree will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10:00 – 12:00 Thursday, April 12, prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
