Douglas “Doug” P. McRoy, age 80, passed away December 16, 2022, at 6:10 pm, at Wapak Manor. Doug was born September 16, 1942, in Covington, OH, to Jack M. and Pauline F. (Carey) McRoy who preceded him in death. On September 30, 1961, he married Anne Marie (Zuchowski) McRoy who preceded him in death on October 18, 2011.
Doug is survived by his son, Ken (Anthony) McRoy of West Orange, NJ and his daughter, Kim (Tom) Graham of Lima, OH, a grandson, Tony (Kandi) Graham and a granddaughter, Meagan Graham of Lima, OH, 4 great grandchildren: Gavin Jones, Wells Graham, Waylin Graham and Wytton Graham, a brother, Ben (Janet) McRoy of Middletown, OH and 2 nephews: Josh McRoy and Brad McRoy and his longtime companion, Charlotte Hefner of Lima, OH.
Doug was a 1960 graduate of Covington High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Doug had worked at Perry Corporation, Hardy Financial Group and then was the founder of Court Financial Services from which he retired in 2014. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Lima where he was on the board and also the Serra Club of Lima. Doug was also a longtime member of the Sertoma Club and the Knight of Columbus. Doug loved traveling and vacationing the summers in Cape Cod and the winters in Alabama. He loved to fish and boat and spending time at the lake. He loved St. Patrick’s Day and was a die-hard Ohio State fan and most of all he loved spending time with his family.
There will be a Mass of Christian burial held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. John’s Catholic Church. Officiating the mass will be Fr. David Ross. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery following the service.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-7 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL where a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fr. Herr Scholarship Fund or St. John’s Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
