Douglas Craig Catlett, age 57, passed away December 27, 2020, at 11:13 pm, at the Ohio State University-Wexner Medical Center of Covid-19 after winning an 18 month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia . Doug was born on Easter Sunday, April 14, 1963 in Lima, OH, to Franklin Lewis and Carole Louise (Weiler) Catlett who preceded him in death.
Doug is a 1981 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was appointed as a patrolman with the Lima Police Department on October 27, 1986. He graduated from the State Highway Patrol 63rd Basic Police course on January 5, 1987. He served with the Lima Police Department for 13 years until he resigned on September 19, 1999. Doug was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and L.A. Lakers fan. He enjoyed fishing, talking and telling stories and most of all being with his family. Doug was also very proud of his Irish heritage. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Romaine and Ervin F. Hyman Sr., Benjamin and Nancy Weiler and paternal grandparents, Ruby and Frank Catlett Sr.
Doug is survived by his children: Courtney (Marcus Addy) Catlett and Donavon Catlett both of Lima, OH, Kaleb Catlett and Keaton Catlett both of Louisville, KY, 2 grandchildren: Hendrix and Titus Addy, siblings: Kimberly (Dave) Bassett of Lima, OH, Stephen Kyle Catlett of Shawnee Twp., OH, Scott L. Catlett of Marion, OH, Leslie (Paul) Moss of Lima, OH and Erika L. Catlett of Lima, OH, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a funeral service held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Pastor John D. Maynard. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
