Dorothy L. Burden, age 94, went home to heaven on April 12, 2021, at 4:31 am, at
Otterbein Cridersville, surrounded by loving family.

Dorothy was born April 9, 1927 in Lima, Ohio to Phillip R. Riggle and Bonnie E. (Hites)
Riggle both of whom preceded her in death. On August 8, 1944 she married Lewis
Burden who passed away on April 16, 2000.

Survivors include: children, Gregory A. (Sharon) Burden, and Cindy D. (Ronald) Pyles,
as well as daughter in law, Genny Burden (Rick); grandchildren, Shane (Tina) Burden,
Nicole (Terrell) McMillan, Aimee (Jason) Horstman, Amanda Burden, Sarah (Roger)
Kelsey, and Kaia (Jon) Putman; great grandchildren, Austin, Natisha, Felicia, Alexis,
Jacob (Shannon), Rhiannon, Latrell, Domonique (Davlynn), and Jennifer (Jaylin);
siblings, Edna Mason, June Martin, Joyce Black, and Patricia Schultz; sister-in-laws
Janet (Ralph (d)) Burden Janice (Ronald (d)) Burden and Beverly (Perry) Eagy; many
beloved nieces and nephews, friends, as well as her dear friend & roommate, Sandy

She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Lewis Burden, Jr., her son, Rick
Burden, siblings, Betty Kyger, Robert Riggle, Pauline Dinnen, Rodney Riggle,
Rosemary Pugh and Marjorie Crain; as well as her beloved canine companion, Barkley.

She had previously worked as a stripping machine operator at the R.G. Dunn Cigar
Factory in Lima. She was a member of Hardtimes Buggy Club and greatly enjoyed
riding around with her friends. She found great joy in crafting, especially sewing and
doing needle punch. She was an avid football fan, and watching The Ohio State
Buckeyes was one of her greatest pleasures. She was an amazing homemaker and a
spectacular cook. She always went above and beyond to care for her beloved family,
whom she adored above all else. Dorothy was an exceptional woman who will be
greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the
Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee Chapel.  A public visitation will take place from
2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021 also at the Shawnee Chapel. Pastor
John Maynard will officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery
following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Deb's Dogs, The James
Cancer Center or the Marimor Legacy Foundation with the memo being designated to
the All Ability Playground.
