Doris L. Golding, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 8, 2019, at 3:20 pm, at the Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. Doris was born December 18, 1936 in Lima, OH, to Clyde R. and Florence (Cook) Githens who preceded her in death. On June 2, 1956, she married Jerry Golding who preceded her in death on April 25, 1998.
Doris was a 1955 graduate of Elida High School. Later in life she had worked at J.C. Pennys and then WalMart. Doris was a former member of the Old German Baptist Church in Lima and had attended Vineyard Fellowship in Bradford, OH and eventually she attended Cable Road Alliance Church in Lima. She enjoyed baking and sewing.
Doris will be remembered and missed by her children: Jeff (Deanna) Golding of Wakarusa, IN, Sharon (Dale) Sink of Eaton, OH and Julie (Dave) Sheely of Bristol, IN, a sister, Ethel Nungester of Estill Spring, TN, a sister in-law, Venice Githens of Queen Creek, AZ, 9 grandchildren: Mindy (Gerald) Brubaker, Dane (Catherine) Sink, Tenile (Nathan) Piersma, Tiarra (Andy) Ashcraft, Katelyn (Preston) Cover, Garrett (Caroline) Golding, Jack Golding, Troy Golding and Janae Golding, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Cambria Cover, 2 brothers: John and Weldon Githens, a sister, Maxine Fleck, a brother in-law, Robert Nungester and a former sister in-law, Mary Githens.
There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 2pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be her son in-law Pastor Dale Sink. Burial will be in Ash Grove Cemetery following the service.
Friends may call on Thursday one hour prior to services at the Shawnee Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
