Donnie L. Shepherd, age 74, passed away February 17, 2021, at 11:10 pm, at his residence. Donnie was born July 29, 1946, in Lima, OH, to Delmer J. and Helen (McMullen) Shepherd who preceded him in death. On June 12, 1966, he married Susan J. (Hofius) Shepherd who preceded him in death on September 12, 2019.
Donnie had attended Bath High School. He spent his career working in auto parts with 5-Acre Auto Wrecking and ended with Kenny’s Auto Wrecking retiring in 2019. Donnie was a life-long member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Springbrook Golf Course where he had also worked part-time as a grounds keeper. Donnie loved all things associated with Ohio State and Cleveland Browns. In his retirement, he loved watching his grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews and cheering them on in all their activities.
Donnie is survived by his daughters: Kimberly (Steve) Ford of Mooresville, NC, Kendra Welter of Memphis, TN and Kari Shepherd of Lima, OH, 2 grandchildren: Trey and Riley Ford, a brother, Jerry (Elva) Shepherd of Lima, OH, a sister in-law, Bonnie Shepherd of New Milford, CT and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son in-law, Jonathan Welter and a brother, Michael Shepherd.
There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Pastor Teresa Wenrick. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to The Isiah’s Hope Project.
