Debera “Duke” A. Walker, age 50, passed away April 15, 2021, at 6:10 pm, at the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, OH. Deb was born December 20, 1970, in Cleveland, MS, to Andrew and Louise (Hall) Jackson who preceded her in death. On July 29, 2005, she married Leroy F. Walker who survives in Lima.
Deb was a 1990 graduate of Lima Senior High School. She had worked as a nurses aide with Shawnee Manor for 27 years until she became ill with Covid-19. She fought the good fight and beat the virus but suffered permanent complications that she couldn’t overcome. Deb loved to cook and bake for her entire family. She also liked to play cards, writing down recipes and always loved watching a good football game.
In addition to her husband, Deb is survived by her daughters: Jessica Hylton and Jasmine Walker both of Lima, OH, a special granddaughter, Ava Dukes, 4 sisters: Margaretta Jackson of Lima, OH, Diann Montgomery of Mt. Bayou, MS, Mattie Porter of Mt. Bayou, MS and Bloundean Vaughn of Cleveland, MS, 2 brothers: Charles Jackson Sr. of Lima, OH and Andrew Jackson Jr. of Cleveland, MS and a host of nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles and her best friend of more than 40 years, Yvonne Roberson. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Jannetta E. Hall and Mersherly Jackson and a brother, Terry L. Jackson Sr.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
