David L. “Bird Dog” Luke, Sr., 80 of Lima, passed away January 24, 2022, at Lima Memorial Health System.

David was born March 23, 1941 in Lima, OH, to Levi and Rosina (Gahret) Luke, who preceded him in death. On April 21, 1993 he married Evelyn (Drollinger) Luke, who preceded him in death on April 7, 2011.

He was a 1959 graduate of Lima Senior High School and worked as an electrician for Terry and Jack Sign Company for many years. David was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed being outside and, when he was younger, he enjoyed playing baseball. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Kelly (Michael) Brown, David Luke, Jr., Tony (Teresa) Luke and Joshua (Valerie) Luke; sisters, Rosalyn (Stanley) Prater and Shirley Anderson; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Margaret Luke and Cathy Luke.

In addition to his parents and wife, David is preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Luke, Larry Luke and Steve Luke and great-grandchildren, Kadon Lee Luke and Jordan Luke-Commons.

Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. A graveside service will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Steve Rhoades to officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
