Darrel Eugene Bowers Sr., 83 of Columbus Grove, passed away November 14, 2021, at 5:16 pm, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Darrel was born February 22, 1938 in Lima, to Henry Darwin and Verna Mae (Hostetler) Bowers, who preceded him in death. On March 5, 1962, he married Barbara (Glasco) Bowers, who survives him.

Darrel attended Elida High School and was a proud United States Marines Veteran. He was a painter at Unverferth and retired after 17 years. Darrel was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans Post 119 out of Lima. He was an avid coin collector, enjoyed Western movies, country music and playing cards. Most of all Darrel enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Samuel (Barb ) Bowers, James (Lynne) Bowers, Paul Bowers, Darrel (Lacey) Bowers, Jr. and Sanford Lee (Jody) Watkins; daughters, Trina (Mike) Miller and Linette (Jeff) Thitoff; grandchildren, Trish (Mike) Luke, Tracy Bowers, Amber (Ethan) Bowers, Joshua Miller, Lucas Miller, Samantha (Andrew) Freed, Sarah (Levi) Probst, Rebekah Bowers, James Bowers, II, Andrew John Bowers, Cheyenne Bowers, Dakota Bowers, Ariana Bowers and Isabelle Bowers; great-grandchildren, Thomas Prichard, Alycea Ruhlen, Noella Freed, Liam Probst and a great-grandson on the way and five step-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the funeral home.
