Darrel D. Wilkins, age 85, passed away October 7, 2021, at 7:21 pm, at the Meadows of Delphos. Darrel was born October 26, 1935, in Mendon, OH, to Ray M. and Hazel (Jennings) Wilkins who preceded him in death. On September 4, 1954, he married Carolyn K. (Traucht) Wilkins who preceded him in death on August 18, 2017.
Darrel was a 1953 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School. After high school he started to work for the United Telephone Company. He worked there for 38 years starting out as a lineman and finished his career as a supervisor in 1991. Darrel had been a member of the Lima Baptist Temple and then when he and his wife moved to Florida they became members of the Croom-a-Coochee Baptist Church in Webster, FL. He was an avid John Deer and classic car enthusiast.
Darrel is survived by his children: Debra (Tom) Sneary of Lima, OH, Denny (Debrah) Wilkins of Lima, OH and Vicki (Doug) Hilty of Lima, OH, 6 grandchildren: Shane (Heather) Sneary, Nicole (Seth) Siefker, Aundrea (Bruce) Fricke, Jeremy Wilkins, Aaron (Shannon) Robnolte and Amanda (Will) Lear and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamey Wilkins and a sister, Donna (Roy) Carter.
There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jerry Alexander. Burial will be in Cairo East Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral at 1:00 pm at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
