Darlene Carol Bellamy, 80 of Lima, passed away January 3, 2023, at Otterbein Cridersville.
Darlene was born June 27, 1942 in Oak Park, IL, to Clarence Delbert and Adaline Lillian (Waisganis) Groener, who preceded her in death. On August 17, 1963, she married Robert Bellamy who preceded her in death.
Darlene graduated from Downers Grove High School and worked as the clerk and manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store. As former Girl Scout herself, she was a proud Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and a Co-Leader for the Brownie and Girl Scouts. Darlene was a 4-H advisor and she was also a member of the Allen County Herb Society where she showcased her gardens in her backyard. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed caring for and spending time in both her herb and flower garden. Darlene loved relaxing by her Koi pond and she dabbled in arts and crafts, especially floral arrangements. She enjoyed spending time with her close friend Carrie; together the two would go thrift shopping, antiquing and attend flea markets. Most of all, Darlene loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who lovingly called her “Honey” and her great-grandchildren to whom she was “Nana”. She had a kind heart and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Darlene is survived by her son, Michael G. Bellamy; daughters, Carol L. (Darren) Newman and Sheri D. (Darrell) Crowe; grandchildren, Bryan (Ashley) Bellamy, Jami (Gregory) Adams, Charlie Jo (Stephen) Bellamy, Darrell (Kat) Crowe, Jr., Jon Newman, Katie Newman, Lillie Crowe and Lex Crowe; great-grandchildren, Gaige, Melaina, Dane, Desmond, Damien, Selina, Simon and Aryahna; sister, Marlene Klink; sisters-in-law, Carol Groener, Mary Lou Mate, Jean Frizzell, many nieces and nephews and her close friend, Carrie Small.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, John Robert Bellamy, daughter-in-law, Dionna Bellamy and her brother, Clarence “Buzz” Groener, Jr.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, West Ohio Food Bank or Deb’s Dogs.
