Danny Taylor Hunlock, age 84, went home to God and his mom and dad at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Springview Manor Nursing Home surrounded by the love of his family.

Danny was born June 26, 1934 in Houston, TX, to the late Daniel A. and Ruby Dale (Balliett) Hunlock. On November 13, 1954 he married the love of his life, Patty L. (Archer) Hunlock.

Danny was a graduate of Lima South High School. He proudly served in the United States Army, serving at Fort Knox in the Tank Battalion and he also served in the United States Navy Reserves. He was a brick mason, having worked for H.A. Tilton and he retired from the City of Lima Street Department. Danny loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and horseback riding. He was an avid story teller who may have embellished just a little. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patty L. Hunlock of Lima; four children, Elaine D. Gross of Spencerville, Christine A. “Chris” (Larry) VanSchoyck of Lima, Mark A. (Deb Shook) Hunlock of Lima, and Clark T. “Cork” Hunlock of Lima; nine grandchildren,, Amber, Brooke, Jessica, Dustin, Jamie, Mandy, Jason, Rodney, and Brittany; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother, Barry (Betty) Hunlock of Columbus, and sister-in-law, Barb Enyart of Lima.

He is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Harold G. Gross Jr.; grandson, Nathan; two brothers, Ward Hunlock, and Barney Hunlock; sister, Shirley Kerns; his beloved horse, Cody and beloved dog, Joe.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Wanda Werking will officiate the service. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the VFW Post #1275 at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, at the funeral home.
