Claude L. Crist, age 78, passed away on May 13, 2021, at 6:50 a.m., at his residence, surrounded by loving family.
Claude was born August 13, 1942 in Lima, OH, to Edward and Margaret (Hart) Crist, both of whom preceded him in death. On September 9, 1968 he married Grace (Nicely) Crist who preceded him in death on September 29, 2004.
He worked for many years out of Labor Local 329, where he served with pride and eventually retired in 1996. He loved to travel the open roads on his motorcycle and he enjoyed being in the great outdoors, especially when he was fishing or hunting. He had an affinity for mowing grass and would do so, rain or shine. He would talk to anyone and had a special talent for giving directions. He never knew a stranger, and had most likely conversed with everyone from Lima to Indian Lake. He was loved by many, and he loved them. He loved his family most of all. He cherished his children, his dear wife, and especially his many grandchildren. Claude was an exceptional man, and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Survivors include: children, Vicki (Jerry) Ewing, Melody (Jerry) Schiele, Marc (Monica) Crist, Claudette (Marc) Dulebohn, and Margaret Crist; siblings, Dave, Shirley, Sandy, and Tammy; as well as thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and beloved canine companions, Nikki and Lady.
Preceded in death by: parents, Edward and Margaret Crist; spouse, Grace Crist; as well as his brother Eddie.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee Chapel. Rev. Glory Geib will officiate the service. Burial will be in Elida Greenlawn Cemetery following the service. A public visitation will take place immediately prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, also at the Shawnee Chapel.
