Charles “Charlie” Russell Bott, age 72 Years, passed away on December 30, 2021 at 6:51am, at his residence surrounded by his family. Charlie was born December 10, 1949, in Continental, OH, to Charles L. and M. Marcile (Siefer) Bott who preceded him in death.
Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany from 1967-1969. He then served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War in the 173rd Air Borne where he received 2 purple hearts and a bronze star. He was a member of the Orioles and the VFW #1275 and also was a retired member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. Some of his interests included: motorcycles, fishing, hunting, going to Vegas, and watching westerns on t.v.. He also took great pride in watching his sons sporting events.
Charlie is survived by his children: Charles A. (Angela) Bott of Lima, OH, Jason L. (Kelly) Bott of Saint Marys, OH, Jeremy L. (Concha) Bott of Lima, OH, Chris Blockberger-Rickels of Defiance, OH and Sarah Bott of Lima, OH, 16 grandchildren: Dakota, Destiny, Emilee, Taylor, Aneesea, J.B., Ashley, Keyana, Chaz, Ashley, Rachel, Sarah, Brianna, Cody, Andrea and Steven 12 great grandchildren and a brother, Kenny (Kathy) Bott of Pandora, OH. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Joyce (Tom) Winkeljohn and Nancy Shark.
There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the VFW #1275. Officiating the service will be Rev. Bryan Bucher. Burial of cremated remains will be held privately at a later date.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 1-3 pm at the Shawnee Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
