Charlene Rae (McKinney) Myers passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at St. Rita’s Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Charlene was born on May 13, 1951, in Lima, Ohio, to James and Janet (Reed) McKinney spoiling her grandmother’s Mother’s Day celebration. She married the love of her life, Daniel M. Myers on June 4, 1977, in Harrod, Ohio. They were married 13 years when he passed away in October 1990.
Charlene was a 1969 graduate of Lima Senior High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northwestern Ohio. Charlene retired from UNOH in 2011 after more than 24 years as the Cashier. She is a past Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose of Lima. Charlene enjoyed playing cards with her favorite ladies – Carol, Bonnie, Connie, Pat, Krista, Tia, Cristy, Gini, and Pammy every Tuesday prior to moving to Lima Manor. When she wasn’t playing cards, she enjoyed entertaining friends, decorating her home much to the chagrin of her daughters, rearranging furniture, shopping, eating at the Casa Lu Al, pulling pranks on others, and calling her daughters three to four times a day. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved to show off.

Charlene is survived by her oldest daughter, Sheila Askins, her favorite daughter Danielle (Mark) McClure of Lima, Granddaughters Katie (Shad) Sacks, Shelbie McClure, Karlie Askins, and Lucy McClure; Great-grandsons Jacob Foust Jr. and Jaxon Sacks, Great Granddaughters Jemma Sacks and Sophia Thuman; Step-mother Jane McKinney, Step-brother Greg Moorman, Step-sister Sandy (Paul) Hahn, Nephews Bryan McKinney, Steve Barrington and Donnie Barrington, Nieces Trisha McKinney, Michelle Hahn and Stephanie Wysong, and Kara McKinney, several great-nephews, her longtime friend Kenny Schmitt, her “long lost adopted” son, Kyle, whom she found at Lima Manor two years ago, several aunts and uncles, and many cousins.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her loving brother David McKinney, her grandparents Nelly & Ray Reed and Florence & Harold McKinney, numerous aunts and uncles, and her best friend Vicki Smith Mabry.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, Funeral Services will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 PM with Jim Bronder, officiating.

Interment will be at a later date in Gethsemani Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at both Lima Manor Nursing Home and St. Rita’s Medical Center for the excellent care that she received over the years.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Toledo Office, 1718 Indian Wood Circle, Suite C, Maumee, OH 43537, in honor of Sheila Askins and Shad Sacks.
