Carolyn Jo Waltz, age 89, passed away January 21, 2022, at 9:40 am, at Lima Memorial Health System.

Carolyn was born June 5, 1932 in Lima, OH, to Percy Wellbaum and Margaret Josephine (Shinkle) Wellbaum, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 10, 1950, she married Calvin Waltz who preceded her in death on June 21, 2018. She was a homemaker, and she also worked at both Lima Memorial Hospital and Bluffton Hospital. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lafayette, where she greatly enjoyed attending and sharing in fellowship with her church family. She loved camping, family trips and above all else, Carolyn loved her family; she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook who shared her love for those around her by cooking for her family and friends any opportunity she had. Carolyn was an exceptional woman and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Survivors include: children, Karen Waltz, Gary (Lisa) Waltz, and Kevin (Rebecca) Waltz; siblings, Mary Schaaf and Jack (Karen) Wellbaum; grandchildren, Crystal Shepherd and Cadie (Aaron) Hall; great-grandchildren, Kameron and Reece Shepherd, Scarlett and Lincoln Hall; step-grandchild, Terra (Aaron) Clem; step-great-grandchild, Caleb Shaffer, Izabell and Leah Cole, Addison Hall; special niece/best friend, Cathy Schaaf; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents, Percy and Margaret Wellbaum; and spouse, Calvin Waltz.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Lafayette. Pastor Ryan Cordle will officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. A public visitation will take place on the night prior, Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Eastside Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Lafayette.
