Carol Diane Sandy, age 79 of Lima, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 12:35 a.m. at Lost Creek Care Center, where she was cared for and respected by the staff and residents that were like family to her.

She was born Oct. 26, 1942 in Lima to Byron and Mary (Parkins) Weaks who preceded her in death. She married Michael Sandy who preceded her in death on March 21, 2002.

Surviving are her daughters: Kathy Lynn Clawson and Lori Sullivan both of Lima; four grandsons: Seth Clawson, Josh Clawson, Jason Sullivan and Albert Sullivan, IV; five great-grandchildren and a sister Karen Kay Smith of Sidney.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Eugene Weaks.

Carol had been employed at Keystone Meats, Ray’s Markets and Lima Memorial Hospital. She had also been a bartender and worked at an ice cream stand. She was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren. She loved to shop. She enjoyed her home, gardening and canning fresh fruits and vegetables. She also cherished her dogs, Tater, Teddy, Muffin and Molly. She was known for her wicked sense of humor.

Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, 4950 N. Thayer Rd., Elida, with Pastor James Washington officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the church.
