Carol Anne Mumaugh, 84, of Lima passed away at 9:35 PM on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 8, 1937 in Lima to Alvah Otis and Sue (Allendorph) Corey, who both preceded her in death. On June 28, 1963, she married Donald Eugene Mumaugh, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2004.
Carol graduated with a bachelor’s degree in missions from Nyack Missionary College, where she was in a musical tour group. She then earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Bluffton College. She worked for over 24 years as a school teacher with the Lima City Schools, retiring in 1990. She had also taught in the Bluffton Schools for 2 years. She volunteered in the jail ministry and was one of eight chaplains at the Allen County Jail. She was a member of Shawnee Alliance Church and also attended Pilgrim Lighthouse. She had been actively involved in music ministry as a violinist with her husband in various area nursing homes, rescue homes and churches.
She enjoyed reading, writing and painting. She wrote a memoir on the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) church in Lima called A Vibrant Heritage, composed over 2000 inspirational hymn style songs, and wrote other stories and poems.
Surviving are her daughters Ruth (Paul) Nalliah of Huntington, IN and Beth (Eric) Calderwood of Lima; her grandchildren Timothy, Rebekah and Abigail Calderwood, Rachel and Lisa Nalliah; her brother John Corey of Lima; her sisters Ellen (David) Mitchell of Charleston, WV and Marilyn (Darren) Rurup of Franklin, TN; and fourteen nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Rosine (Charles) Long and Patricia Buggs; her sister-in-law Carolyn Corey; and one niece and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, with Rev. Dr. Daniel Mesner, officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
