Carl Dwight Detrick II, 78, of Lima passed away peacefully at 4:14 PM on March 19, 2022 at Kindred Hospital, Lima surrounded by his children and family.

He was born on July 19, 1943 in Lima to Carl Detrick I and Mary Ellen (Rupert) Detrick, who both preceded him in death. On July 9, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart Gretchen (Seitz) Detrick, who survives in Lima.

Carl was a 1961 graduate of Lima Senior High School and had attended The Ohio State University. He retired from The Bostwick-Braun Company of Toledo, OH after 37 years of service. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict from 1964 until 1970 in the 25th Infantry Division.

He was a lifelong Buckeye fan, loved golfing, fishing and spending time with his family, especially supporting his grandchildren at all of their events.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 55 years, Gretchen Detrick of Lima are his son Jeffrey (Breanna) Detrick of Marysville; his daughters Lisa (Nicholas) Koelsch of Sylvania and Jennifer (David) Harris of Findlay; his grandchildren Ryan Tropp, Christopher Detrick, Nicholas Koelsch, Jr., Kaleb Koelsch, Kiersten Koelsch, Emma Harris, Haden Harris and Lucas Detrick; his siblings Anne Dean, Paul Detrick; his sister-in-law Barbara Perry.

He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Willis.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, where military honors will be performed by active duty members of the US Army and VFW Post 1275 at 3:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
