Bruce Allen Baker Sr, age 70, passed on at 4:40 pm Friday, September 24, 2021, at his home surrounded by his beloved wife of 52 years, his sons and family.
Bruce was born February 11, 1951 in Lima, OH, to the late Larry and Blanche Marie (Daugherty) Baker. On July 19, 1969 he married Evelyn (Mason) Baker.
Bruce was a 1969 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He retired from DTR Industries in Bluffton. Bruce was an avid sports fan, having coached his three boys and grandchildren in soccer, baseball, softball, basketball and football. He especially loved his Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes. Bruce was a proud husband, dad and grandpa who worked hard his entire life and instilled that same work ethic in his family. He dedicated his life to helping others and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Baker of Lima; three sons, Bruce Allen (Jen) Baker, Jr., Robert Craig “Bob” (Becky) Baker and William Todd “Bill” (Faith Lawrence) Baker all of Lima; eleven grandchildren, Leah, Kori, Gracie, Bobby (Monica) Baker, Brittany (Jordan) Baker, Bryce, Brodi, Braydon, Autumn, Chase and Cloey; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Todd Michael (Karla) Baker of FL; two sisters, Cathy (Gary) Clark of MO and Christina Hittle of FL; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lyla Jade Baker; brother, Larry Baker Jr. and his best friend, Rodney Lukomski.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 30, 2021 at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Tom Cooper will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm Wednesday, September 29, at the funeral home.
