Betty L. (Detrick) Kesler, age 95, was called into the presence of the Lord at 10:05 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at Lima Memorial Health System.
Betty was born July 19, 1927 in Lima, OH, to the late Ora Russell “O.R.” and Mary Mildred (Coil) Detrick. On May 10, 1947 she married Carl E. “Bud” Kesler who preceded her in death on January 28, 1998.
Betty was a 1945 graduate of Lima South High School. She had previously worked at Lima Memorial Hospital and retired in 1980 from Lima South Junior High School, where she had served as a secretary for 16 years. Betty was a lady of great faith and was a longtime member of Elm Street Church of the Brethren. Her greatest joy was her family; she absolutely adored her daughter, grandson, great grandchildren and great-great grandson.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca J. “Becky” Wolfert of Lima; grandson, Lucas Glenn (Kristy) Wolfert of Lima; great grandchildren, Ava Marie, Isaiah Thomas, Brianna Nicole Wolfert; great-great grandson, Elliott Bame; brother, Russell Dale Detrick of Lima; sister in Law, Ruth Detrick of Lima; niece Jane (Shawn) Stevens of Lima; nephew, Bradley (Charlotte) Detrick of New York, NY, great nephew, Zachery T. Detrick of New York, NY and several cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Terry Alan Kesler; brother, Roger L. Detrick; sister, Jean (Hugh) Engstrom and sister-in-law, Carolyn Detrick.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Rev. James Washington will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, prior to the service at the funeral home.
