Betty Jean Grubaugh, 84 of Lima, passed away August 4, 2021, at 2:20 pm at Elmcroft of Lima.

Betty was born August 14, 1936 in Manchester, OH, to Othe and Ruth Irene (Varvel) Prichard, who preceded her in death. On October 23, 1954, she married Vaugh F. Grubaugh, Jr., who preceded her in death on February 22, 2016.

Betty was a 1954 graduate of Lima Central High School and a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Volunteering was of the utmost importance and she spent her time volunteering at Lima Memorial Hospital, working with the Boy Scouts, as well as many other organizations. Betty was a member of CCL, which is an organization for the betterment of children in Lima and a member of Y Grade Ale, a service sorority. She was a past president of Spartan Mothers, a Brownie Leader, an avid sports fan for all things Lima Senior Spartans and participated in two Westgate bowling leagues. Betty grew up in the Cincinnati area so she was an avid Bengals and Reds fan, as well as an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. She started her family as a homemaker and later worked as co-manager of Rager Meats Market before leaving to manage the Lima West Apartments. Upon retirement, she spent countless hours being the baker of many desserts for some special boy scouters and leaders at Camp Lakota in Defiance. She loved to sew, craft and bake; Betty was called upon for 13 years to alter her granddaughter’s dance costumes and was the maker of many Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. Most importantly, she was a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend to many and she will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Ronnie) Boedicker of Lima; sons, Vaughn F. (Laura) Grubaugh, III of Tigard, OR and William (Sue) Grubaugh of Columbus; grandchildren, Meridith (William) Seech, Kayla Grubaugh, Kelsey (Troy) Karski, Jared Grubaugh, Melissa (Michael) Stimmel, Christine (Shaun) Poovala, Troy (Kristy) Boedicker and Shane Boedicker; great-grandchildren, Spencer Seech, Maddox Seech, Amanda Tone, Alexandria Pohjala, Trevor Boedicker, Anthony Stimmel, Devon Smith, Jaden Boedicker, Whitney Boedicker, Gabrielle Poovala, Preston Poovala Evelyn Karski and Audrey Karski; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother, Rodrick (Paulette) Tuach; sister-in-law, Donna Prichard and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Prichard, sister, Alice (Robert) Sherman and her sisters-in-law, Marylee (David) Wetnight and Joan (Maxie) Lambright.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Pastor Ted Bible to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 9:30 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
