Barry Joe Snider, 81, died Sunday, October 2, 2022 at The Springs of Lima. Barry was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on June 6, 1941 to Nellie (Butler) and Oscar Snider, both of whom are deceased.
Barry served in the United States Marine Corps from Nov. 30, 1959 until Dec. 3, 1963.
Barry married Ruth ‘Vicky’ Crooks on December 10, 1965 who preceded him in death on May 14, 2003. Together they raised and loved their daughters. Barry continued this legacy with his love and commitment to their many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barry retired from Tall Timbers in Findlay, Ohio as a semi truck driver on October 24, 2003, but farming remained his true passion in life.
Barry is survived by 4 daughters, Ellen Newberry of Fort Worth, Texas, Cindy Jo (Troy) Breidenbach of Lima, Lesa (Tony) Anderson of Lima, and Julie Snider; 13 grandchildren, Tyler (Lauren) Breidenbach, Katie Jo (Tate) Breidenbach Wooding, Gracie (Ayden) Breidenbach, Owen Breidenbach, Brayden (Mina) Newberry, Baeley Newberry, Ben Newberry, Bradey Elyas Newberry, Kayla (Kevin) Bellman, Jayse (Torri) Longworth, Kourtney, Lyndsey; and 3 step-grandchildren Joseph, Justin, Joshua; 7 great-grandchildren Jon and Luke Bellman, Toby and Tanner Breidenbach, Keaton, Kylee, Leah. Barry is also survived by two sisters in law, Mary Snider and Pat Snider.
Barry was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles ‘Dutch’ Snider, Oscar Jr. Snider, Donald ‘Bud’ Snider, Doyle Snider, Jerry Snider, Danny Snider; three sisters, Mary Jean Metz, Helen Spyker, and Peggy Satterfield; Step-daughter, Kimberly and grandson, Ethan Breidenbach.
The viewing will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at 9 AM, and the funeral service to follow at 11 AM with Pastor John Wright officiating at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services Shawnee Chapel, 1170 Shawnee Rd, Lima, OH 45805. Following the burial service at Fairmount Cemetery, the family will host a luncheon at Chiles-Laman Shawnee Chapel.
