Barbara “Barb” J. Elsass, age 74, passed away January 8, 2021, at 8:18 am, at the Lima Memorial Health System. Barb was born November 27, 1946, in Lima, OH.
Barb graduated from Waynesfield-Goshen High School and The Ohio State University. She retired from Lorain City Schools in Lorain, OH in 2000 after 31 years. She taught visually impaired students, 6th grade, and Title Math. Barb spent 16 years with Admiral King High School baseball team as a score keeper, statistician and chief cookie baker. She enjoyed reading, needlework, crocheting, Ohio State Football, Cleveland Browns and Indians. She planned and designed her own home. Barb was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in LaFayette, OH.
She is survived by her two brothers: Art (Sandy) Elsass of LaFayette, OH and Alan Elsass of Neosha, MO, nieces and nephews: Jake (Jessica) Elsass with the U.S. Air Force, Deanna (Jeremy) Drake of Neosha, MO, Karen (Chris) Jackson of O’Fallon, IL, John Elsass of Smiths Station, AL, Becky Elsass (Mark VanAtta) of Ada, OH, Katie (Glenn) Miller of Elizabeth, IN and Jessie (Caleb) Bennett of Glenford, OH. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Elsass.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was Barb’s wishes to not have any visitations or services. She will have a private graveside service in the Fisher Cemetery near LaFayette, OH at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Mayo Clinic. The family has entrusted the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL in assisting them with funeral arrangements.
