Barbara “Barb” J. Binkley, 86, passed away on September 7, 2022, at 6:13 pm, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Barb was born November 4, 1935 in Lima, OH, to James “Jim” and Maxine “Micky” (McClain) Cady who both preceded her in death. On July 15, 1987 she married Joseph “Joe” Binkley who preceded her in death on June 25, 2014.
Barb graduated from Lima Central High School in 1953. She was a proud accordion player for Lima Central. Barb and her husband owned and operated “The” Best Little Store in Town in Lima, on Jackson Street for many years. She worked for the Lima City Schools in the S.T.A.R.S. Reading Program and in the cafeteria. She also delivered Meals on Wheels. Barb was also a manager at King’s Department Store. Some of her hobbies included bowling, playing cards, crocheting, cross stitching and working on various crafts. She was a member of the Lima Eagles 370 and The Order of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge. Barb loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a proud American and was very patriotic. A couple known facts about Barb is she loved her ice cold Pepsi and chow dogs.
Barb is survived by her children, Cathy Warren of Lima, OH, Billy Mack (Debbie) Kilgore of Bartow, FL, grandchildren, Andrew “Andy” (Ellen) Kilgore of Lexington, KY, Tyler Kilgore of Medina, OH, Adam (Ashley) Kilgore of Tallmadge, OH, Chrissy (Ryan) Brees of Winter Haven, FL, Cody (Samantha) Kilgore of St. Marys, OH, James “Jimmy” (Jessica) Doyle of Lima, OH, great-grandchildren, Cobain, Caysen, Cooper, Lucas, Evie, Janey, Aubree, Charlotte, Brynlee, siblings, David (Pat) Cady of Lima, OH, Jim (Leslie) Cady of Toledo, OH, and Beverly “Bev” Zizelman.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Betsy Kilgore-Doyle, brother, Charles “Chuck” Cady, sister, Betty (Glen) Bressler, brother-in-law, Max Zizelman and son-in-law, Vince Warren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 1:00pm at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Rev. Terry Brock to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and one hour prior to the service at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Senior High School Athletics.
