Aurilla Ann Newland, age 92, was called into the presence of the Lord at 12:55 pm Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.

Aurilla was born April 28, 1928 in Lima, Ohio to the late John Henry and Ruth Rebecca (Lehman) Twining. On November 21, 1947 she married Dale Edward Newland Sr. who preceded her in death on July 27, 1967.

Aurilla was a 1947 graduate of Shawnee High School. She worked at Lima Memorial Hospital in housekeeping, retiring in 1993. Aurilla was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word search puzzles. She was an proud mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma who especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce K. (Tom) Miller, Rebecca S. “Becky” Starkey both of Lima; daughter-in-law, Patricia Newland; grandchildren, Michael (Jess) Newland, Sherry (Dave) Wilmoth, TJ Dotson, Christopher (Debbie) Dotson, Timothy (Tiera) Dotson, Thomas D. (Melissa) Miller, Tammy Jo Williams, Tammy (Jay) Troike, Pamela Williams and Helen Meenach; twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a son, Dale Edward Newland Jr., granddaughter, Rachel Renee Pursell, and a son-in-law, Franklin Thomas Starkey.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Brenda Stauffer will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Harrod Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, March 1, at the funeral home.
