Athena J. Nyers, 54 of Lima, passed away February 14, 2022, at her home.

Athena was born August 10, 1967 in Chicago, IL, to Alex Nyers and Nancy Schramski, who preceded her in death.

Athena graduated with her Juris Doctor from the Claude W. Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University in 1992. She followed in her mother’s foots steps, becoming an attorney with her own private practice here in Lima; she loved to help people. Athena was a member of the Allen County Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. Cats and dogs held a special place in her heart and she loved shopping, especially for shoes. Athena was an avid traveler who enjoyed vacationing all over world and she loved ocean fishing. She always loved a trip to the casino and she enjoyed her lottery scratchers. Athena was an avid gardener; you could always find her outside planting flowers when the weather was nice. She was a wonderful cook, she made excellent pasta dishes, she was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a history buff. Most of all, Athena adored angels and we can all take comfort in knowing that we all have our own guardian angel watching over us.

Athena is survived by her best friend, who is like her sister, Eva (Frank) Rollins Hayhurst of Wapakoneta; her uncle, Darrel “Mick” (Janet) Schramski of Mishawaka, IN and her friends, Joshua “B.J”, Jodie and Michelle.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Hudson “A.J.” Schneller and her brother, Allen J. Nyers.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNEREAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Since Athena loved flowers, in lieu of memorial contributions, flowers at the memorial visitation are welcomed.
