Annabelle I. Smith, 104 of Lima, passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at 5:45 a.m. at her residence.

She was born Nov. 1, 1917 in Lima to Benjamin and Minerva (Musser) Parr who preceded her in death. She was first married to Emerson Gates and later married Ernest Van Horn, and then she married Marcus Smith.

Surviving are her children: Nancy (Leo) Bender of Red Boiling Springs, TN, Janice Moore and Linda (Jerry) Wireman both of Lima, Edwin (Jen) Van Horn of Grand Rapids, MI, and Tammy (Pete) Eilerman of Shawnee; and her 39 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 40 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by the following children: William Gates, Shirley (Ray) Sage, Patricia Clark, Sandra Compton and Dennis Gates. She is also preceded in death by the following siblings: Orville Parr, Pepper Parr, Charles Parr, Bernard Parr, Robert Parr, Alta Blue, Juanita Bourland, Betty Nogel and Charlotte Brendahl.

She was a graduate of Indian Lake High School where she played basketball. She was a former member of United Brethren of Lakeview. She had been previously employed at the Lima Senior Citizens, Pat’s Donuts and Kreme and the Elderly Day Care Center.

Funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Pastor James Baker to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service Monday.
