Andres S. Vasquez, age 79, passed away January 1, 2021, at 9:00 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems surrounded by his loved ones.

Andres was born on April 6, 1941 in Crystal City, Texas to Louis Vasquez Sr. and Herlinda Vasquez, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 20, 1983 he married Lois (Brown) Vasquez who survives in Lima.

Andres worked for 44 years as a cook at Ford and the last 10 years as a cafeteria monitor for Lima City Schools. He was a passionate disciple of Jesus Christ who served his Lord as a member of the Ark of the Covenant Baptist Church in Lima, Ohio. He and his wife traveled as “The Peacemakers” to area churches and retirement homes. He often thanked the Lord for the sunshine and enjoyed it often while visiting his neighbors on his scooter and bicycle and from the back porch at his home. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather who left his family a legacy of genuine faith. They will miss him yet know he is at home with his Lord.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Ann; children, Michelle Vasquez, Brent Vasquez, Jodi Hamman, Jessica (Marcus) Armentrout, Joshua (Amy) Vasquez, and Venessa (Joshua) Jones; grandchildren, Andrea, Chanel, Nickiya, Brodie, and Olivia; five great grandchildren; as well as siblings, Arnold Vasquez and Armida Nicely.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Vasquez Sr. and Herlinda Vasquez, as well as his brother Louis Vasquez Jr.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 8, 2020 at 1:30 p.m at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee Chapel officiated by his son, Joshua. The service will be live streamed on the Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person.

Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery immediately following the service.

A public visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Shawnee Chapel.
