Allan Lynn Garner passed away on February 3, 2023 at Mercy Health – St Rita’s Medical Center.

He was born in Lima, Ohio on June 5, 1960 to Wiley Garner and Irene (Ward) Garner, both parents preceded him in death.

Allan was a member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He was a graduate of Lima Senior High School. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Fort Ord, California and served in South Korea near the DMZ. After leaving the military, he moved to Denver, Colorado with his father. Allan moved back to Lima, where he worked as a Corrections Officer at Allen Correction Institute until he retired in 2014. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He loved music, fishing and barbecuing. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He leaves to mourn his passing a son, Quinten A. Garner of Lima, OH; two grandsons, Zaveon Garner and Airon Garner, both of Lima; a granddaughter, Kaya Boggs of Lima; a brother Roger (Nita) Garner; two sisters, Nancy Wilkerson and Shirley Garner. He is also survived by two special cousins, Robert Ward, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and Randy Ward of Houston, TX as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Allan was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Sue Campbell; two nieces, Connie Y. Jones and Tennille S. Haithcock and two brothers-in-law, Charlie Wilkerson Jr. and Lexaville Harris Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
