Alice M.Nichols, age 81, finished her life’s journey on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 5:30 am at home.
Alice was born July 25, 1939 in Columbus Grove, Ohio to Florence M. (Adams) and Clifford P. Steiner, both whom proceeded here in death.
On October 16, 1960 she married William (Bill) Nichols and they were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage, before he passed away on May 19, 2011.
Alice and Bill were blessed with two wonderful and loving daughters, Jill A. Nichols (Johann Kramer) and Tracy S. Catalano (Vince). After Bill passed away, Alice was fortunate to be able to live with both Jill and Tracy over the last 10 years enjoying both the Florida sunshine and the ever changing Ohio weather. Alice and Bill were blessed with 8 grandchildren, Nicole Warnecke, William Travis Tidd (Amy Ladden), Jayme Chandler (Logan), Alyssa Tidd, Jonathan Catalano, Thomas Catalano, William Catalano and Karlie (Scott) Cunningham. As those blessing continued to multiply, she has 8 great grandchildren to cherish her memory. Lydia Wills, Izabella Tidd, William Tidd, Jakub Voracek Jr, Gavin Cunningham, Maddox Cunningham, Rhiannon Cunningham and Dexter Cunningham. Three more great grandchildren are arriving soon, Chandler twins baby A and baby B due July 25, 2021 and Eloise Jo Schindler due August 9, 2021.
She is also survived by here siblings, Dale Steiner (Irene), Mary Lou Beckman (Benny deceased), Jerry Steiner, (Elaine) and brother in law Richard Nichols (Helen deceased).
She graduated from Mendon Union High School in 1957 as Class Valedictorian. She retired from the Lima City Schools as a Cafeteria Manager from Westwood School. After retirement she could be found working in the garage with Bill building all kinds of beautiful wood furniture. She was always quick to spend time with the grandkids, making memories at every chance. Baking cookies and pies were definitely one of her passionate past times, making sure family gatherings and church events were well stocked with all of her favorite goodies. An endless supply of candy could also be found in her room. The kids always knew that it only took one little knock on great grandma’s bedroom door, and they would be sure to leave with a piece of candy or four! She even convinced some of them that “horehound” was actually and edible candy!
Alice attended Faith Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday June 28, 2021 at Faith Christian Church, 2223 Shawnee Rd. Lima Ohio.
Funeral Service will be held immediately following the Visitation at 2:00 pm.
