Carol Sue Furry, 66, died at 7:50 a.m. Aug. 11, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 23, 1946, in Allen County to Walter and May Bowerman Boedicker, who preceded her in death. On June 5, 1971, she married Richard "Dick" Furry, who survives in Lafayette.
Mrs. Furry was a member of Lafayette Congregational Christian Church. Through the years she had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star, co-president of the Women's Fellowship at the church and a member of the Friends Club. She was a willing and diligent worker through her passion of nursing. She had been a nurse at St. Rita's Medical Center and several nursing homes. Prior to being a nurse, she had worked at the Allen County Fairgrounds and City Loan & Savings. She enjoyed going to the fair and crocheting. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be deeply missed.
Survivors also include a son, William Furry, of Roy, Wash.; a daughter, Regina (Randy) Striff, of Harrod; three grandchildren, Kayla (Tyler), Brett and Jordan (Claire); two great-grandchildren, Carter and Avrianna; two brothers, Michael (Barb) Boedicker and Jim (Sally) Boedicker; a sister, Laura (Andy) Mick; and several special, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Pastor David Thompson and Pastor Robert Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Auglaize Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Stefanie Spielman Foundation or St. Rita's Hospice.
