Richard W. “Dick” BILBREY, age 81, passed away at 6:58 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.
Richard was born April 2, 1937 in Spencerville, to the late Walter Green and Cecile Hannah (Bowers) Bilbrey. On October 9, 2004 he married Sandra G. Bilbrey who survives.
Richard was a 1955 graduate of LaFayette Jackson High School and he was a graduate of Bluffton College. Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring after twenty three years of service. After retirement from the military he worked with his brothers, Larry Bilbrey Concrete Inc. Richard enjoyed genealogy, researching his family’s heritage and researching the history of the Jackson Township Schools. He especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra G. Bilbrey; two step-daughters, Kyla (Ramzy) Asmar and Laura Fletcher; four brothers, Robert Bilbrey, Larry Bilbrey, George Bilbrey and Gregory Bilbrey; three sisters, Ada “Kaye” Hunlock, Mary Ann (Larry) Steveley, Erline (Dale) Binkley and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine E. “Jerry” Bilbrey who he married on July 7, 1962 and she preceded him in death on August 29, 1996; three brothers, Joshua “Bill” Bilbrey, Gary Lynn Bilbrey and Andrew Morgan Bilbrey; brother-in-law, Ward Hunlock and four sisters-in-law, Helen Bilbrey, Gloria Bilbrey, Judy Bilbrey and Delia “Dee” Bilbrey.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, 101 E. Main Street, LaFayette, Ohio 45854. Pastor Doug Meyer will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Allentown Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the V.F.W. #1275.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, LaFayette or the donor’s choice.
