Leonard I. Deal, age 88, was called into the presence of the Lord at 12:04 am Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Lima Memorial Health System.
Leonard was born August 8, 1928 in Coldwater, MI, to the late Samuel and Iola (Cleveland) Deal. On February 10, 2001 he married Marilyn J. (Clum) Hunsaker – Deal who survives in Harrod.
Leonard proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from Consolidated Freight. Leonard loved the Lord and was a dedicated and faithful member of Lima First Missionary Church. He enjoyed camping, boating and trips back home to Michigan, which he always referred to as “God’s Country!” He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Leonard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include, wife, Marilyn J. Hunsaker – Deal of Harrod; children, Cheryl (Rev. Jim) Williams of Pineville, LA, Rick (Michelle) Deal of Austin, TX; son-in-law, Rod Mobley of Bronson, MI; Brother, Ed (Aleida) Deal; Grandchildren, Matthew (Natalie) Williams, Cara Williams, Jaimie Williams, Quinn Deal, Christian Deal and a great-grandson Atlas Williams; step-children, Dennis (Barb) Hunsaker, Robert (Susan) Hunsaker, Steven (Teresa) Hunsaker and Marisa (Cliff) Hadding; 8 step grandchildren; 21 step-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his First wife Donna Abramson – Deal and a Daughter, Marla Mobley; three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 am Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Lima First Missionary Church, 1105 W. Robb Ave., Lima, OH 45801. Pastor Tim White and Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the service. Burial will be 11:30 am Monday, May 22, in Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI 49012.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 17, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lima First Missionary Church.
