Leona Pieraccini Miller, age 90, of Lima, passed away August 11, 2017, at 9:25 am, at Lima Manor.

She was born January 4, 1927 in DiBarga, Italy to Nicholas and Margherita (Darsi) Pieraccini who preceded her in death.

Leona came to the United States at the age of two. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and had worked at Pangles until retirement. Leona loved reading, crocheting and playing BINGO and trivia. She was known for her love of teaching her children and grandchildren how to read.

Leona married Ray K. Miller (d) on November 27, 1946 and they had six children; Nancy Suarez, Linda Miller (d), Kenneth Miler, Mary Jo (Monte) McCormick, Nick (Mary Good) Miller and Tony Miller; seven grandchildren, Joey (Indra) Suarez, Jodee Hennon, Katrina Lewis, Kristy Wheeler, Aaron (Lindsey) McCormick, Kenro (Jessie) Miller and Laurie Good; 19 great-grandchilren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Leona had one brother, Nick Pieraccini and one sister-in-law, Nancy Pieraccini who preceded her in death. Her brother was her life and she never got over his passing. Leona had a special friend, Esther Miller and nieces, Joann Heindel and Elaine Moneer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that respected and loved her.

At her time at Lima Manor she gained many friends. She enjoyed the activities, her nurses, nurse aide’s and anyone that was connected with Lima Manor.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Fr. Norbert Howe to officiate the service. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery following the service.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 pm on Monday at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL with a wake service at 8:00 pm.
