Hilda M. Cary, age 87, entered her Heavenly home on January 11, 2018, at 7:15 am, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center. Hilda was born September 30, 1930 in Maysville, OH, to Lewis and Effie (Spitzer) Rumsey who preceded her in death. On January 31, 1951 she married Don M. Cary who survives in Lima.
Hilda was a 1948 graduate of the LaFayette-Jackson High School. After high school she served 2 years in Brethren Volunteer Services. She was a homemaker and most recently, she had worked for 2 years at Gifts of Joy. Hilda also worked as a volunteer on the coffee cart at St. Rita’s. She was a member of the Crossroads Church of God for many years and previously she had also been a member of AGLOW. Hilda loved quilting, arts and crafts, bird watching, and planting flowers. She also loved cooking for her family and friends. Hilda will be remembered for reading her bible and being an excellent example of being a dedicated Christian woman and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone who knew her, loved her.
In addition to her husband, Hilda is survived by her daughter, Diana (Keith) Pickard of Lima, OH, 7 grandchildren: Andrew (Beth) Warren, Melissa (Ellis) Cruz, Ryan Courtney, Kyle Warren, Chad (Dena) Warren, Justin (Jessica McFarland) Courtney and Abigail Courtney, 8 great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Gabriel, Emma, Mykaila, Cy, Lily, Cole and Gage, a sister, Hazel (Don) Mowery of Findlay, OH and a sister in-law, Miriam Rumsey. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jaylene Warren, a sister, Helen (Don) Rummel, 4 brothers: Roy Rumsey, Dale (Harriet) Rumsey, Glenn Rumsey and Denny Rumsey.
There will be a funeral service held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Crossroads Church of God. Officiating the service will be Rev. Brian Robertson. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL and then on Monday one hour prior to services at the church.
